Muhtar Kent, chief executive of Coca-Cola, protesting a potential tax on sodas to fund wellness initiatives, to which I reply: oh, really, Mr. Kent? Guess you haven’t heard about trans fats or alcohol, eh? And I guess it hasn’t occurred to you that this isn’t a BAN on soda—only a tax? And shame on you for using the McCarthy method of scaring people. A tax to benefit the health of people! GASP! Better not tax, lest we turn into mindless commies!
Shocking, the CEO of a soda company is against anything that might imply that soda is - gasp - unhealthy?! On that note, I love how naming Russia is a catch-all for anything having to do with lack of choice - the ultimate in totalitarian rule. But communism/socialism is not totalitarian, neither is it about limiting choices, and the Soviet Union was not communist!
